My user research work has included field research and qualitative data analysis, data mining and statistical analysis, usability studies and prototyping, data visualization and report writing, persona and scenario creation. My most recent work in industry as a user researcher was with the Xbox/games group at Microsoft in 2010.

Before returning to school and attaining my PhD in Human-Centered Design & Engineering, I spent over 10 years as an industrial designer creating digital art, interaction design, video, and animations for a variety of delivery mediums and clients.

- Technology use and diffusion in Central Asia, focusing primarily on mobile use, technology effects on social networks, and how technology can support existing social networks. These investigations were studied as part of my research assistant job in the Central Asia Information Communication + Technology (CAICT) group at the University of Washington.
- Attitudes and behaviors regarding water usage in the Andhra Pradesh region of India. This research was part of a consulting job for the Safe Water Project for PATH.
- Children with autism and their families/support structures directly investigating attitudes and behaviors surrounding technologies.
- Improving communication tools that help bridge the design - research gap. This was the central theme of my dissertation.
