In 2008 and 2009, I worked as a consultant for PATH on the 'Safe Water Project.' I performed statistical analysis of survey data from 1000 respondents from the Andhra Pradesh region of India using multivariate and univariate methods. In the survey, respondents were questioned about behaviors and attitudes regarding safe/clean water including collection and storage. The analysis resulted in several synopses in the form of visualizations and persona-like summarizations intended to aid communication and decision making within the design team.
I also consulted on proposed methods for an additional user research investigation in the same population. This second study introduced existing water filtration systems in twenty homes to assess usability issues.
Below are some images from the downloadable condensed report.

This is one of five persona-like graphic summarizations of the data. Since the data was quantitative, these graphic summarizations are somewhere between a design persona and a marketing profile.
The summarizations and graphics are intended to help designers and other stakeholders to quickly understand the complex survey information.

Each persona family has a companion breakout page that guides the reader in an understanding about the significance of the findings displayed in the summarizations.
Some survey information that was homogenous among the sample was also visualized. This information was important for designers to understand but was not differentiated by observing the data through the lens of the persona family segmentation. The sample here displays family monthly expenditures.
